Dreamers are a little weird because they talk about things that are not there. They imagine and see things that others do not see. Dreams are from another world and have to do with what can be, but is not.
Dreamers understand potential. The world as we know it did not always exist, but it had the potential to be. You and I did not always exist, but we had the potential to exist. Your dream may not exist, but it has potential!
(If you are wondering if I have always talked like this or not…I have. I majored in Philosophy and since I was a child my dad has always said I speak in riddles!)
Bridging the gap between what is real and the dream is the challenge. The dreamer has to live in two different worlds. He has to live in a world that is and a world that can be [tweet this].
The dreamer is a contradiction of sorts. He works in a cubicle all day but dreams of owning the company. He bags groceries but knows that he can run the store. Our dreams are limitless, but we live in a world where we are limited by time and space.
This is where most people give up on the dream. They let the empirical evidence win. They are more affected by their bank account, experience, and past to believe that it can actually happen. To make the dream real you must live in both worlds. The key is a balancing act. The key is recognizing and reconciling both worlds.
Most of us have something we want to do. We just don’t see it as an option. We are stuck too far in the empirical that we quit believing that impossible things still happen. No one believed the 4 minute mile could be broken, but Roger Banister did it. No one believed we could land a man on the moon, but it happened. These are the thoughts we should entertain and cultivate.
When you believe that a dream can become real then what was impossible now becomes possible. There is potential in your dream. How was this world framed? It came from nothing, but is! I can’t help but believe that my life today is going to be better a year from now than it is right now. I’ve got a great life, but I’m believing and reaching for greater things! How many times have you heard someone say or you have said to yourself, “That will never happen”, “You don’t have the money for that”, “It’s not possible.” All things are possible!
Looking at the outside of a dream all these statements probably make sense. When walking the fine line of empirical and dreaming you can’t lose faith.
What do you believe?
