A dream is a test of faith. Many dreams have died and been aborted because the dreamer could not believe for it to happen. Our beliefs are in direct correlation with our expectations. There is no way you can expect something without it being a part of your belief system. So what are you expecting?
As my son and I were skipping through the streets of NYC today looking silly, I had somewhat of a flashback of where we were about a year ago. I didn’t have a job nor a place to live in NYC, but I really believed it was going to happen. What we did in the mean time was begin boxing and packing up our stuff. Our house was literally filled with boxes, and I did not have a job.
I think sometimes you have to start making preparation for the dream before it happens. If you believe it strongly enough you will take a class, you will put in the application, you will do whatever is necessary. It is kind of like having a baby.
When my wife first became pregnant with our kids we immediately started making preparation. Obviously the baby was not here, but if you walked in our home the evidence would tell you otherwise. You would have seen a crib, toys, diapers, everything but the baby. This is how it should be with our dreams. There should be an expectation and proper steps toward the destination.
One day I went walking out of a previous job with a bunch of moving boxes, and a coworker asked me if I was moving. I answered yes, and he asked me where? I told him the truth, “I don’t know.” He then asked me a very good question; “you’re moving and boxing stuff up, but you don’t know where you are moving.” I said “yup.” I then told him I was expecting to move and believing that my next season of life was going to take me somewhere else.
I was making preparation. Just like a woman is expecting when she is pregnant, we were expecting!
If you would have walked in our house you would have seen all this stuff boxed up, and if you would have asked us when we were moving we would have to tell you we didn’t know. I remember one time my wife said, “you know I really need something in one of those boxes!” Whatever it was we didn’t get it out.
What does the evidence point to in your life? If someone was able to peak into your life would they see you are expecting something great or would they see someone has compromised and settled into mediocrity?
How can you begin to change the evidence and make preparation for where you intend to be? Will your faith pass the test so the dream can come to light?
Are you ready to take the class? Are you ready to learn that new still? Do you need to get some moving boxes? Is it time to do something radical? So what if you fail! Never live life with a hint of regret. What are you expecting?
