I more convinced each day that every connection you have is the chance for life transformation and encouragement. [tweet this]
We all have individual dreams, pursuits, and passions, but part of your journey should be bettering someone else’s life. It is easy to become selfish and have a selfish view, but part of life should be spent doing good and helping others.
When you encounter people what are you doing to help them? How can you lift someone? How can you add value to them? Can you give to them with no expectation of return?
I hope my life can be characterized by servant leadership and not self-serving leadership. I hope to be able to serve others in such a way that there life will never be the same.
Lives can be changed and you can be the catalyst for that to take place. I’ve had people tell me you shouldn’t praise people so much because they might become arrogant. I say embellish them with praise! When my kids do something great I let them know. Find someone doing something good and praise them.
Every time you meet someone how are you encouraging them? Are you intentionally looking for ways to be kind, courteous, and encouraging? Are you looking to receive from them or looking for creative ways give?
One of the best ways you can help and encourage someone is through your words.
Words have so much power. Words can literally ruin a persons life, but one word can elevate someone out of depression and despair. There is a proverb that says “the tongue has the power of life and death.” The words we use have the ability to bring life or death to the listener. How are you using your words? Why not use your speech for good?
Last week I met someone through my job that I had been corresponding with for some time, and we finally had a chance to talk at length in person. This conversation ended up changing my life. I was so encouraged and lifted by the conversation. I walked away feeling incredible. Why? Because this person encouraged me.
The person I was speaking with told me I was “best in the business!” What? Me?
The reason was how I treated them. If you understood more about where I came from then you would know why this meant so much to me. I obviously had an impact on this person that I was not aware of, but they reciprocated the favor with their words.
It is so simple that we sometimes miss it. Every head that you see hanging down is an opportunity for you to bring up through an encouraging word.
Anyone can change a life. Anyone can encourage. Use your words for blessing and not cursing. Find the good that someone is doing and encourage them. Who knows maybe through your words you will change their life.
